Our Story...

Racquel's Version

Love at 7th sight may be the best description of our story. When I first met Chad, my initial thought was: "He's not very nice and he's just odd." My first encounter with him was at UNT. He had come to a campus party to unload his DJ equipment and my sorority sister introduced us. His first words to me were, "Here, Grab That." He wanted me to carry his equipment. He had braids in his hair, he was wearing an oversized t-shirt and 2 watches -- one on each wrist. (soooo not my type!) I had seen him around campus and knew he lived across the hall from my sorority sisters but never thought much of it. About a year and a half later, he and I crossed paths again when he was scheduled to DJ my sorority's party. My job was to coordinate the entertainment, and work with the "double watch" guy.....again. Our party was cancelled but he kept calling my phone, and kept calling, and kept calling, and a week later, still kept calling.
After college I ran into him at a party in Dallas. He was wearing sunglasses inside the party (at 11pm at night) and his first words to me were: "Don't you know who I am?" (let's just pause right here so the eye rolling can commence). His next words to me were: "You never picked up my phone calls". (a year and a half later......really? you still remember that?). We talked and he asked what my favorite food was. I told him "Sushi". He asked if he could take me out and I paused: This was when I would normally respond: "I'm going shopping with my grandmother" or "I'm seeing someone" or "I think I have to wash my hair that night" but I enjoyed catching up with him. So I agreed.
Two weeks later, on our first date, he picked me up for dinner and told me he had a surprise for me. We pulled into a restaurant parking lot and he said, "I remembered your favorite food is sushi, so I wanted to bring you to Papadeaux" In the nicest way possible, I turned to him and said: "You do realize sushi is ASIAN, not CAJUN?" He tried hard to make our date special and landed a soft spot in my heart. We talked and laughed the rest of the date and here we are.
Chad is geniune, compassionate, God-fearing, supportive and grounded. My first date with him turned out to be the best date of my life and he has been my best friend ever since.
Chad's Version
Racquel has the most beautiful soul on God's given planet. I am one lucky man. My story is a little different from Racquel's story. I think she exaggerated a little but, it's ok. I still love her.
When I first saw Racquel, I noticed she carried herself in a manner different from all of the other ladies around the University of North Texas. Not that I was looking or anything ;-) but she did catch my eye. By the way, all the calling she claims that I did, that was based on the fact that I'm a Dj and her organization asked me to spin at an upcoming event. So with that being said, I was trying to see if they were still having the event but she failed to let me know that it was canceled. Professional right? But after that I didn't talk to her again until we met at a party in Downtown Dallas. We had a great conversation that night. Or at least I thought we did. The night ended and I asked to take her out one day, She paused!.....It seemed like the total of a whole minute, but she said sure why not.
The rest is history.
Two weeks later we went on our first date and I knew that I wanted to eventually be with her, The only thing that stood in the way was time. That was September 2008.
On November 30, 2013 I decided it was time to be a man and ask her to marry me. She agreed. There couldn't be a happier man on earth. I am blessed.
